Accessibility statement template — to be completed by you with your actual remediation actions
Easy menu browsing, table reservations, and location information with AccessPro. Give every guest the controls to explore your site before they walk through the door.
Built to support WCAG 2.2 AA, AODA, ADA & EAA requirements. AccessPro adds user-facing accessibility features — it does not replace the source-code remediation required for full WCAG conformance.
Restaurant websites are some of the most visually dramatic on the internet — and some of the hardest to read. Dark backgrounds with light text, decorative script fonts, and food photography everywhere look beautiful in a browser. For a guest with low vision or colour sensitivity, they can be unusable. AccessPro gives every visitor contrast controls, font adjustments, and AI-generated descriptions for food photography so they can read your menu and understand what you serve before deciding where to eat.
Accessibility is part of hospitality. A guest who cannot read your menu online before visiting does not feel welcome before they arrive. Making your website work for people with disabilities sends the same message your front-of-house does: everyone is welcome here.
People research where to eat online before they decide. A guest with a disability who cannot read your menu, find your accessible entrance information, or complete a reservation form will choose somewhere they can. An accessible website is part of filling seats.
Restaurant websites are the single most-targeted sector in ADA digital accessibility lawsuits — 614 cases in the first half of 2025 alone, representing nearly a third of all filings in that period (EcomBack, 2025 Mid-Year Report).
The violations that trigger those cases are not obscure. A scanned image of your menu uploaded as a PDF is completely invisible to a screen reader. A date picker on your reservation form that cannot be operated by keyboard means a guest with a motor disability cannot book a table without calling. A food photography carousel with no image descriptions means a blind guest has no idea what you serve.
These are not niche technical failures. They are the first experience a guest has with your restaurant — and for a significant share of the population, they are a wall.
AccessPro addresses the user-facing layer immediately: contrast modes for your dark design, AI descriptions for your food photography, text-to-speech for guests who navigate by ear. The structural code issues — including how your menu is built and whether your reservation form is keyboard-accessible — need source-code remediation alongside the toolbar to be fully resolved.
AODA's Customer Service Standard applies to all Ontario food service businesses regardless of employee count. It requires accessible service delivery through all channels — including your website and any digital ordering or reservation tools you control. The accessibility laws in Ontario set out what applies at each organizational size. For restaurants with 50 or more employees, the Information and Communications Standard also requires public-facing websites to conform to WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
In 2019, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in Robles v. Domino's Pizza that a restaurant website and app must be accessible under ADA Title III because they are gateways to a physical place of public accommodation. That ruling established the precedent serial plaintiff attorneys have used to file hundreds of cases against restaurant websites every year since. Canadian restaurants that serve US customers through online ordering or delivery — or that simply have US visitors who use the site — are not automatically insulated from this exposure. A demand letter from a US plaintiff's attorney is not a remote possibility for restaurants with cross-border traffic.
AccessPro adds user-facing controls to your public-facing restaurant website — your menu pages, gallery, contact form, and general content. It does not fix a scanned PDF menu, which requires rebuilding as an HTML menu page or a properly tagged PDF document. It does not extend into third-party online ordering platforms such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, or SkipTheDishes embedded on your site, or into third-party reservation widgets from platforms like OpenTable or Resy. Those tools carry their own accessibility requirements. For a plain-language breakdown of what an accessibility widget addresses and what still needs a developer, our overlay guide covers both honestly.
My menu is a PDF. Does AccessPro fix that?
No — and this is worth understanding clearly. A scanned image of your menu uploaded as a PDF is completely unreadable by screen reader software. AccessPro's AI can describe images on your website pages, but it cannot make an inaccessible PDF readable. The fix for a scanned PDF menu is to replace it with an HTML menu page on your site, or to export your menu as a properly tagged PDF from your design software rather than a scanned image. This is a straightforward developer task and eliminates the single most common restaurant accessibility violation in ADA lawsuits.
What about our online ordering system or reservation widget?
AccessPro adds user-facing controls to your website but does not extend into third-party tools embedded from external platforms. If your online ordering comes from DoorDash, Uber Eats, or SkipTheDishes, or your reservations run through OpenTable or Resy, the accessibility of those tools is the responsibility of each platform. Your obligation as the website owner is to ensure the pages and content you control are accessible — and to link to these tools in a way that is itself accessible.
Does AODA apply to my restaurant if I have fewer than 50 employees?
Partly. AODA's Customer Service Standard applies to all Ontario food service businesses regardless of size. That means you are required to provide accessible service, including through digital channels, even as a small or independent restaurant. The specific WCAG website conformance requirement applies to businesses with 50 or more employees. Compliance reporting applies to those with 20 or more.
How long does installation take?
About two minutes. AccessPro installs on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify with no developer required. If anything comes up during setup, our support team is available 24/7 by chat and email.
Does it protect my restaurant from ADA or AODA complaints?
Not on its own. AccessPro demonstrates your commitment to inclusion and addresses many common usability barriers — contrast, font, text-to-speech, and image descriptions. Full protection requires addressing structural issues, including your menu format, form accessibility, and keyboard navigation, alongside a completed accessibility statement and documented effort over time.
